How to Create a Nine Patch Variation Block

In this post, we will be making a nine patch variation block.

Materials Needed:

  • Fabric A & fabric B

  • Tools: Rotary cutter, mat, ruler, threads, and sewing machine.


Preparing Your Fabrics:

  • It’s really important to prep your fabric. My secret recipe is 40% Terial Magic, 60% Best Press. Use a spray bottle and spray, then press the back of your fabric.

Assembling the Nine Patch Variation Block




  • Sew your blocks together as shown above



  • After you've sewn your blocks together press your seams according to the arrows so they nest properly. 


Putting your block together



  • Sew your rows together and press your block, then trim to size.
